๐Ÿงก๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ”— It is clear that former Superintenden ๐Ÿงก๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ”— It is clear that former Superintendent Dr. Denise Herrmann wasn't the right fit for our district, and that educators, parents, taxpayers, and even students agreed. We appreciate that the School Board considered our input and made the correct decision to make a much-needed change in D128 leadership. ๐ŸŽ We are looking ahead to August and focusing on educating every student! โžก๏ธ Here is our opportunity to move forward in a thoughtful and collaborative way with the School Board to ensure we are meeting the diverse needs of all the students, parents, teachers, and school staff. @lcft_504 @iftaft #UnionStrong

๐ŸŽ Since we stood up for the students, parents a ๐ŸŽ Since we stood up for the students, parents and taxpayers of @chsd128 and declared NO CONFIDENCE in Superintendent Dr. Denise Herrmann, our Union has not been silent. ๐Ÿ’™ We filled a new grievance today related to the district's MTSS "plan," which laid off classroom teachers but relies on non-certified teachers to do teaching work they call tutoring. This is an unfair labor practice that we have fought since March. ๐Ÿงก Union leaders will meet at 4:30 pm today in closed session with School Board members. We have requested Dr. Herrmann not be present. We will also address the Board in public comments at 5:30 pm. In the Libertyville High School library. ๐Ÿ”— #StrongerTogether @lcft_504 @iftaft

๐ŸŽ D128 Federation of Teachers actively adds to ๐ŸŽ D128 Federation of Teachers actively adds to our beloved profession by funding 2 scholarships for @chsd128 seniors who wish to study education. ๐Ÿงก LHS graduate Mia Colton with Union member Kevin O'Neill at LHS awards event. ๐Ÿ’™ VHHS graduate Sarah Besser with Union leaders Monica Caldicott and Jason Rush. ๐Ÿ•ฏ๏ธWe also acknowledge and thank Julie Rohlfing and James Rohlfing, daughter and grandson of longtime Union member Sharon Arbiture, whom this scholarship honors. @lcft @iftaft
๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿงก๐Ÿ”— We also want to call attention to som ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿงก๐Ÿ”— We also want to call attention to something ๐Ÿ˜ฌ *awkward!* (as our students would say): ๐Ÿชฉ @d128foundation funded a $2500 grant to "Light Up the Dance Floor," an inventive collaboration between 4 Vernon Hills High School classes that would have designed, coded, sewn, and modeled electronically controlled and lighted dance costumes. โš ๏ธ But the project is in jeopardy because Admin decided to cancel Style Studio and Dance III. ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿงก๐Ÿ”— Our Union continues to appeal such short-sighted class decisions. We advocate for our students and their success!
๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿงก๐Ÿ”— Using the words of an eloquent Libert ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿงก๐Ÿ”— Using the words of an eloquent Libertyville High School student, our Union is appealing the decision to stack Latin III, Latin IV, and AP Latin, all in one class period with 29 students. ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡น Ellery spoke at the May 20 School Board meeting and shared how crowded, hot, and unfair this class combo is to dedicated Latin scholars like her. Admin's decision will have a chilling effect on the future of this strong language program. ๐Ÿ“ƒ Read more at d128union.com
