🍎 Since we stood up for the students, parents a 🍎 Since we stood up for the students, parents and taxpayers of @chsd128 and declared NO CONFIDENCE in Superintendent Dr. Denise Herrmann, our Union has not been silent. πŸ’™ We filled a new grievance today related to the district's MTSS "plan," which laid off classroom teachers but relies on non-certified teachers to do teaching work they call tutoring. This is an unfair labor practice that we have fought since March. 🧑 Union leaders will meet at 4:30 pm today in closed session with School Board members. We have requested Dr. Herrmann not be present. We will also address the Board in public comments at 5:30 pm. In the Libertyville High School library. πŸ”— #StrongerTogether @lcft_504 @iftaft

🍎 D128 Federation of Teachers actively adds to 🍎 D128 Federation of Teachers actively adds to our beloved profession by funding 2 scholarships for @chsd128 seniors who wish to study education. 🧑 LHS graduate Mia Colton with Union member Kevin O'Neill at LHS awards event. πŸ’™ VHHS graduate Sarah Besser with Union leaders Monica Caldicott and Jason Rush. πŸ•―οΈWe also acknowledge and thank Julie Rohlfing and James Rohlfing, daughter and grandson of longtime Union member Sharon Arbiture, whom this scholarship honors. @lcft @iftaft
πŸ’™πŸ§‘πŸ”— We also want to call attention to som πŸ’™πŸ§‘πŸ”— We also want to call attention to something 😬 *awkward!* (as our students would say): πŸͺ© @d128foundation funded a $2500 grant to "Light Up the Dance Floor," an inventive collaboration between 4 Vernon Hills High School classes that would have designed, coded, sewn, and modeled electronically controlled and lighted dance costumes. ⚠️ But the project is in jeopardy because Admin decided to cancel Style Studio and Dance III. πŸ’™πŸ§‘πŸ”— Our Union continues to appeal such short-sighted class decisions. We advocate for our students and their success!
